LugRadio Live UK 2008

Well, it's finally over, LugRadio Live UK 2008 has finished as has the podcast. To sum it up in one word, Wow.

Just a few of the many highlights:

Friday night at the Hogshead - so many people and meeting people who know of me by reputation.

The Chinny Racoon.

Andy Robinson's OSM talk was very well attended and from what I saw there was a steady stream of visitors to the OSM stand. Alex's A0 plots of the Wolverhampton city centre showed just what can be achieved by this project.

As usual, Bruno's talk was pure comedy (the name Jono Jambon was a classic). The animated Unicode art snails were awesome.

The recording of Live & Unleashed was - well phenomenal. I feel extremely honoured to have been awarded the Deputy Community Hero award for my work on organising the event. In many ways I feel I don't deserve it as it was the magnificent crew who did the all work, I just ran around in circles, bossing everyone about.

Not having to get up on the Sunday morning until after 7.

Nearly falling asleep during a talk, not because it was boring but because the chair was so comfy and I was so tired.

Talking the need for better colour matching support in Linux at the Sunday evening meal.

Winding down at the Novotel bar.

And so it is over.

Except that it isn't. A community spirit like that will not go away, so while the podcast has finished, It was announced at the start of the recording of Live & Unleashed that LRL 2009 will happen and it seems that I am to be involved in the organisation again.
